Brush Traction often has opportunities for experienced skilled operatives, Test Engineers and Mechanical/Electrical Engineers and Designers.

Current vacancies

As a result of our future workload we have a requirement for additional staff on a permanent and temporary basis as described below. Experience in the relevant areas is preferred although consideration will be given to suitable candidates with the right skills from other industries.

  • Mechanical Fitters - General fitters with experience of Engine, Generator, Compressor and vehicle cab and saloon work.
  • Vehicle/Coach Builders – Experience of vehicle refurbishment/new build.
  • Electrical Fitters – Electrical work involving significant rewiring and testing of rail vehicles as well as fitting new equipment.
  • Test Engineers – Experience of testing locomotives and passenger vehicles to defined standards ahead of despatch to the network.

Apprenticeships, Trainee Technicians & Graduates

Brush Traction aims to provide entrants a route into engineering through:

  • Modern apprenticeship schemes
  • Graduate & trainee technician professional development programmes

These schemes develop engineering knowledge and skills through a combination of practical hands-on work based experience and part-time higher educational studies.

The selection process for any of these schemes is usually between March/April. Please contact Human Resources for further details.
