Main Erecting Shop

Description

Used for final wiring and assembly of new and overhauled locomotives. A sealed compound is built into a corner of the shop for flash-test of wiring and early stages of inspection and another area is set aside for refurbishment of diesel locomotives.

The shop also includes an adjacent dedicated paint facility capable of major locomotive body paint repairs.

There is also a locomotive structure power wash house on site with 3 tonne overhead cranage facility and de-greasing tanks along with hydraulic pressure testing to 25 bar.

Cranage 10 m height clearance, 2 x 60 tonne overhead, 2 x 2 tonne jibs.
High level access High level walkways to allow safe working on locomotive roofs.
Pits two 25m pits for access to underside of locomotives
Services Electrical - 100V, 240V, 415V (Welding), Air - 5.5 bar and 10 bar.
